Vespa LXV Review
Whenever Vespa introduces new models, it makes sure there is something special in it. In LXV model, it has introduced split seat with back-rest for the passenger. Though other parameters like engine, dimensions, utility space all remain in par with LX model, the uniqueness in appearance and economic price tag adds to the delight of the customers.
The standard design of Vespa scooters is used in this model as well, however, there is clear distinctiveness of this model dominated with split seat and the chrome plated hand grip for passenger, chrome grille guards for the rear panel and taillight avoids possible scratches while riding at congested road conditions. The dimensional features include length 1770mm, width705mm and the wheelbase of 1280 that enable for perfect distribution of loads on the front and rear wheels. The seat height of 785mm and the space between the seat and the handlebar is intelligently designed to provide comfortable posture for the rider. The body panel at the rear made very sleek and strong, tails lamp fitted towards the end of the panel leaves a pleasant long lasting impression.
Engine, Economy & Performance
Vespa LXV features the same engine used in other sibling premium models, the air-cooled single cylinder, 4-stroke 154.8cc engine delivers the power of 11.5hp at 7500rpm and torque of 12Nm at 5500rpm. The engine is connected to rear wheels through CVT transmission. The advanced fuel injection system used for the engine gets the best of fuel efficiency of 60kmpl. Unlike the LX model, here fuel tank of 7 liters storage capacity is used, a combination of best of fuel efficiency and moderate fuel tank capacity can be handy for using in city roads and short distance travel highway riding. In a straight ahead movement from idling, one can reach the speed of around 80kmph in a very short interval from idling.
The stylish body design matched with an equally good performance of the engine and body dynamics makes it easy to maneuver. There is good space between rider seat and handlebars that provide comfortable posture of the rider and adds to feel good factor of riding time. Smooth acceleration with a quick responsive engine gets a brisk rise in speed, but it could struggle a bit with the pillion passenger. The tough design of tires with rating 110/70 R11 on both front and rear gets good road grip assuring safe riding. The ground clearance is just good enough for normal roads and it struggle at abnormal road conditions. The split seat design provides flat seat for the passenger which could make comfortable seating for aged persons.
Safety, braking, and Miscellaneous
The Vespa LXV has all basic safety features improved with the latest technology. The sheet metal used for the body panels made stronger and lighter in weight for long lasting reliability. Disc brakes at front and rear made easy to operate and the grip of tyres on the road makes it easy to stop without skidding. The ignition lock provided with locking of handlebar for safe parking and lockable storage space under seat can be handy for leaving helmet and smaller baggage in the vehicle
