Vespa LX Review
Vespa has a long history of introducing classic styling scooters. Vespa Indonesia has introduced an array of latest models such as S, LXV, Primavera, Sprint, GTS, 946 which are getting a tremendous response from the customers. The LX model is one of the successful models from its stable. It is the updated version of PX model which was discontinued due to changes in emission standards policy.
This model is designed on the basic principles of the conventional styling of flat body panel at front and fender on the comparatively smaller wheel. The special attention is given to the detailing of it with the superior quality of paints and accessories like clear lens indicator lamp on the front body panel and edges of the tail portion. The space between the seat and the handlebar is intelligently designed to provide comfortable posture for the rider. The body panel at the rear made very sleek and tails lamp fitted towards the end of the panel.
The combination of chrome plated hand grip for the pillion rider, tail lamp and the indicators leaves a good impression on the onlookers. The dimensional features include 1770mm length, 705mm width, and the wheelbase of 1280 that enable for perfect distribution of loads on scooter and seat height of 785mm enables the riders to rest both feet on the ground, this is helpful during starting and halting the vehicle.
Engine, Economy & Performance
Vespa LX features air-cooled single cylinder four strokes 154.8cc engine delivering the power of 11.5hp at 7500rpm and torque of 12Nm at 5500rpm. The engine is connected to rear wheels through CVT transmission. The advanced fuel injection system used for the engine gets the best of fuel efficiency of 60kmpl. The fuel tank of capacity 8.5 litres is combined with best of fuel efficiency enabling pretty long rides and daily commute with minimum visits to the fuel station. The efficient engine with the pretty good responsiveness and smooth operating acceleration cable connected to the handlebar can get the vehicle to a top speed of 85kmph at a brisk pace.
This motorcycle is designed as an ideal city commuter with the long wheelbase that enable for perfect balancing of the scooter beside providing better leg space for comfortable ride posture. The quick responsive engine helps for faster pick up on the straight ahead road. Though the wheels with tyres rating 100/70 R11 at front and 120/70 R10 at the rear get best of the grip, one has to bit extra careful while taking sharp turns. The ground clearance provided is just alright and the rider has to slow down to minimum speed for overcoming the road humps and hollows. The unplanned road humps can be tough hurdles for smooth riding, a cautious riding would prevent underbody hitting.
Safety, Braking and Miscellaneous
The Vespa LX is a conventional design scooter with special attractive features. Vespa has assured best of riding with the superior quality of suspension at front and rear. The energetic performance of the engine and final drive can enable the rider to go at higher speeds and the front disc brakes and rear drum brakes assures safe braking at minimum time. Further, Vespa LX has lockable storage on the front panel and utility space under the seat. This can be very handy for storing vehicle documents, handbag and other smaller items.
