  The thrilling, first in the series of BMW 6-cylinder motorcycles, the BMW K 1600 GT features an unbeatable performance and owing to the perfect engineering it displays, the bike was chosen as the best sporting touring motorcycle by US magazine Cycle World in July 2011 and by UK Weekly newspaper Motor Cycle News. The adaptive headlamps technology of the bike also gained it a lot of recognition in the auto world.

The bike is a sport touring motorcycle that is developed by the skilled hands of the immortal Chinese-owned oldest Italian motorcycle manufacturer, BMW. The sport touring bike was unveiled by the company at the INTERMOT motorcycle show in Cologne in October 2010 and marked its sales debut in March 2011. The bike is particularly dedicated towards sports as compared to its full dressed sibling, K 1600 GTL that is a luxury tourer.


  The pumped-up sports tourer is crafted to display an elegant blend of sportiness and stylishness. The well-dressed bike also leads in the aerodynamic aspect owing to the sharp and smooth fairing covers. The large striking visor of the bike along with the windshield and closely tyre-adhered mudguard fetches a stunning front look of the bike. One of the praised features of the bike is its large adaptive headlights that house two high-beam circular headlamps with standard xenon lights and fibre optic rings that also boasts an oscillating mirror up to 25 degrees inclination. The bike features a wide and comfortable seat and a precisely sporty rear design that shows off a wide rear wheel and two exhausts with triple-outlets. Engine, Performance and Economy:

  The bike is injected into life by a precisely-engineered 1649 cc straight 6-cylinder in-line engine that is encased with DOHC (double overhead camshaft) and is oil or water cooled. This inevitably capable power-mill churns 118 kW of maximum power at 7750 rpm and displays a maximum torque of 175 Nm at 5250 rpm. The engine is meshed with a 6-speed helical gearbox that promises brisk-smooth gear transitions and allows the bike to attain speeds over 200 km/h. However, the bike has a high fuel consumption value of 4.5 litres/100 km at a constant speed of 90 km/h.


  With some prestigious awards in hand, the bike surely displays desirable handling characteristics that define sportiness. The bike is tough and heavy and has a precisely-calibrated centre of gravity, which gains in stability. The bike with its wide seat and flat handles fetch an upright sitting position to the rider. With this, the wide rear tyre of the bike with size- 190/55 ZR 17 allows it to skilfully eat the corners.
