BMW HP4 Review
BMW HP4 is a little monster from the German manufacturer that wears a high-Performance kit in order to enhance its performance. This bike is basically derived from the S 1000 RR, which is fitted with a lightweight four-cylinder motor generating gigantic power of 193 hp and 112 Nm of peak torque. The bike is also fitted with a highly capable braking system to keep the bike under control at high speed.
BMW has made their S1000RR faster by introducing the bike which is typically an advanced version of it and named it as HP4. The main aspect that makes this bike lightning fast is the Dynamic Damping Control suspension system which is adjustable. The weight of the body is shaved off and titanium exhaust is fitted in it to make this bike highly responsive.
Visually there’s minute difference between the stock S1000RR which makes it different from the basic variant. There is new color contrast, badging and a serial number is engraved over the top fork yoke. Certain parts are also changed to shave off its weight, like new forged and machine wheels, which results in better suspension, lightning fast acceleration, and braking. The overall body of the bike measures 2,056 mm in length, 826 mm in width and 1,138 mm in height which makes it compact and lightning fast. It is more attractive from the side portion due to its titanium exhaust and brilliantly painted body.
Engine, Economy & Performance:
This lightweight motorcycle is occupied with 999cc, four-cylinder engine, which makes this bike one of the most powerful bikes of its segment. The mixture of power-train and lightweight body is cumulatively able to provide 193 bhp and a peak torque of 112.5 Nm. Its potent engine and exhaust have been tuned in such a manner to squeeze out the maximum available torque, even at mild rpm. This feather-weight bike is capable enough to attain maximum seep of 305 kmph and also offers the fuel economy of 14 kmpl, which is quite decent.
The world's first dynamic suspension system DDC (Dynamic Damping Control) makes this bike the most advanced superbike ever manufactured. There are various modes to select from: Rain and Sport for public roads, Race and Slick for the race track. The Dynamic Traction Control is also fitted in it to enhanced the handling of the bike. All these high-tech features provide maximum traction and optimum handling with acceleration. For excellent handling and keeping the bike under control at high speed, the brand is fitted it with 3.50 X 17” rim at the front and 6.00 X 17” at the rear. The front and the rear rim are wrapped with 120/70 ZR 17 and 200/55 ZR 17 respectively.
Safety, Braking, and Miscellaneous:
To keep this little beast under control, at the front, it is occupied with twin disc brake, floating brake discs with 4-piston monobloc fixed caliper, diameter 320 mm and 5 mm thick. Single disc brake, single piston floating caliper, diameter 220 mm, 5 mm thick is fitted at the rear portion. To enhanced the braking and for safety point of view, it has STANDARD Race ABS with IDM calibration, Dynamic Traction Control and the Dynamic Damping Control which are adjustable in all type of modes.
The S1000RR has already achieved great response and it is top in its class in terms of acceleration and top speed. Its performance is further increased with the HP4 model that is equipped with latest technology features and light weight construction. Overall the HP4 is high performance and smart looking bike but it is not as good as Ducati's Panigale S.
