Mercedes Benz GLS-Class Review
For years, the GL Class has set countless benchmark for 7-seater luxury SUVs just like the S Class has set the standard for sedans and now it's time for GL Class to reborn as the new GLS class. Mercedes-Benz has already introduced its new class of SUVs taking cues from both GLS and S Class styling and is ready to launch this new class in Indonesia in August this year. The GL has become the GLS and has got more than a new letter from the S Class along with many upgrades wrapped in a fresh new look. The new GLS has already confirmed its position as the “S Class among SUVs” globally.
Engine, Mileage & Variants
Globally, Mercedes-Benz GLS class comes in 3 variants, but in Indonesia, the luxurious SUV will be available in only one variant, AMG GLS 63 4MATIC, which is a top-of-the-range model in the series. With a turbo V-8, 63 4MATIC is good for about 585 hp of maximum power and 760 Nm of peak torque. New GLS will come with an independent suspension and will be mated to a revised AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC transmission which will distribute the power to all its wheels. Improvised output of the GLS Class is definitely a deal sealer for the GLS but its fuel economy of 8.13 kmpl is something for which the brand still needs to work upon.

With a cargo volume of 680-litres which can be extended to 2300-litres power-folding third row and 60/40-split second row.
Safety, Braking & Miscellaneous
Safety of the Mercedes-Benz GLS is designed as such to take the strain off the driver. Driver assistance and safety systems, which comes as standard include Collision Prevention Assist Plus, Crosswind Assist and Attention Assist, Brake Assist, ESP with Curve Dynamic Assist, cruise control with variable SPEEDTRONIC speed limiter. Optimum protection is provided by the passive occupant protection systems along with the 'electronic crumple zones'. Active Brake Assist also helps in avoiding a collision by automatically braking.
