Subaru initiated the Forester in automotive industry during the year 1997. It was designed as a crossover with a gesture of a small car and the rugged nature of a sports vehicle. The Forester has a proven identity for reliable small crossover vehicles and has also won a few awards for its achievements. It is powered with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine which develops acceptable power figures for performance tactics. It has a basic cabin which fits in five passengers at a time. The exterior feel is loud and offers good all round strength to the visual parts.
The Subaru's patented Boxer engine has made its way in the Forester. With 2.0-liter turbocharged 4 cylinder DOHC turbocharged petrol engine, the car performs remarkably well. This engine churns out 240 PS of power at 5600 rpm and the torque output of the same is 350 Nm between 2400 rpm to 3600 rpm. The engine is fuel efficient with 8.5-litre/100 km of fuel consumption. Subaru has tuned this engine multiple times during the life of this car and now the world receives a wisely crafted unit which has good load pulling abilities. It takes 7.5 seconds to touch the 100 kmph milestone from zero, while the top speed of the car is 221 kmph which is no less than impressive.
The Subaru Forester has the glimpse of an SUV all across its body. The beauty of the car is enhanced with the uplifted headlight cluster, chrome garnished radiator grill with brand logo and boomerang shaped bumper crease details surrounding the fog lights. The 18-inch alloy wheels looks great with the car's personality and they are wrapped around with 225/55 R18 tyres. Forester has good dimensions to fit in maximum space for passengers and cargo. Its length is 4595 mm, width is 1795 mm and height is 1735 mm. It also has a long wheelbase of 2640 mm and highly appreciable ground clearance of 220 mm.
The Forester is not equipped with lavish interiors which the other cars including Honda CRV and Hyundai Santa Fe possess, but it has a quality cabin which takes in many practical aspects for daily needs. It has a number of pockets to store magazines, cups, bottles and many other things. The seats are well cushioned and have good under thigh support; tall people may feel it a bit sluggish. The car manages well for storing things. Its rear seats are 60:40 split foldable which confers enormous cargo space. This car can intake 505 liters of luggage in the cargo space while the rear seats down can get in 1592 liters of luggage.
The ring shaped reinforcement frames covers the major supportive region of the car including the main cabin area. It covers the pillars, roof and bottom floor for better strength and load distribution. The transmission and boxer engine are designed to move away during a collision so as to protect the cabin occupants. The position of fonts seat allows the occupants to have vision on all the blind points making it very easy to drive. The SRS airbags are employed for all the seats with curtain airbags, and front and side airbags for front seat passengers. Additionally, the car is also boasted with ABS, Brake assist, EBD, electronic stability program, locking differential and traction control. The brakes on the wheels are ventilated discs on the front and solid discs on the rear.
Like all Subaru cars, the Forester scores high on performance. But if you're looking for lavish interiors and luxury features, then you might consider other brands as well.
