The new bodywork of 450 SX-F was designed by KTM in collaboration with Kiska Design. Together they have given the bike a seamless design that offers perfect ergonomics, compact shape and easy handling. The 2015 SX-F is equipped with tapered handlebar made of high-strength aluminum by NEKEN. This handlebar along with the body colored rubber grips and a sleek fuel tank kicks in true off-road style. For the new 450 SX-F, KTM has adopted new body graphics. These white body graphics against an orange body paints, look contrasting and accentuate its sporty looks.
The most powerful bike in KTM's SX-F series, the 450 SX-F stands true to its winning tag. The off-roader gets a 449.9cc single cylinder 4 stroke engine as its pacemaker. This new engine sports a reworked single overhead camshaft and intelligent electronic fuel injection system, which work together to deliver a massive power delivery of 62hp and a top speed of 198km/h. This powering mill is mated to a cutting-edge 4-speed manual transmission which offers smooth and precise gear change. The engine also features a reworked cylinder head and piston and a weight optimized crankshaft, which contributes to overall compact and light engine with a snappy power delivery. By adopting this new engine, KTM has reduced the weight of the bike and thus increased its power-to-weight ratio. Also, with the advance electronic fuel injection, the bike delivers a mileage of 25kmpl.
KTM has crafted the 450 SX-F as a true racing pedigree. From its engine to handling, the bike aces in all characteristics. The best change that 2015 450 SX-F sports is its light-weight of 100.4kg. By adopting a light-weight steel frame and a new SOHC engine, the 450 SX-F was able to reduce its weight by 20%, and provide higher torsional rigidity resulting in excellent handling and energy absorption. Furthermore, the bike sports an ergonomically deigned seat with a saddle height of 960mm, which offers utmost comfort and enhances rider's confidence. The bike also features a Renthal Fatbar 827 handlebar which can be adjusted in four positions. This, along with well-placed footpegs, create a natural riding position. KTM has bought in race-proven suspension package for the new 450 SX-F. The bike features WP upside down forks at the front, having a wide travel of 300 mm. At the rear, the bike is equipped with WP PDS monoshock, with a travel diameter of 300mm. The new forks improve stability and also enhance traction.
Similar to all its KTM off-road cousins, the 450 SX-F also sports advanced braking mechanism, featuring extremely potent Brembo brakes. The bike is equipped with cutting-edge disc brakes - 260 mm single disc at the front and 220 mm single disc at the rear. The lightweight and powerful disc brakes require less lever pressure and thus improve braking efficiency. Furthermore, the bike is equipped with advanced Maxxis Enduro tyres, that are specially made for KTM off-road series.
