Jialing Target XS Review
The completion in entry-level motorcycles from various manufacturers has led to the introduction of latest and trendy featured versions from each manufacturer. Jialing has its take in the segment with a different version of the model Target. The Target XS features the same engine as its sibling variants R and RV, but the design aspects gave facelift giving it a slight edge over competing models from manufacturers such as TVS Motors, Viar Motors and Happy Motors.
The special feature of the Target XS is the bolder design with broader body panels in glossy purple and silver paint colour. The clear lens headlamp fixed at the center of the headlight cowl assembly, the broader design of seat make it convenient for both riders as well as the pillion passenger. The overall design aspects are very much similar to the variant RV, however here the dimensions are increased with respect to width and height and length reduced by very small margin and overall dimensions include 1930X820X1270mm (Length X Width X Height) and wheelbase 1270mm and kerb weight 90kg and ground clearance 130mm remains same as in RV variant.
Engine, economy and performance
The Target RV feature 100cc single cylinder four stroke engine delivering the power of 6.9hp at 8000rpm and torque of 6.5Nm at 5500rpm. The engine is mated with 4-speed gearbox and gear changing is made easy with smooth operating clutch and gear lever. The smooth acceleration of the engine results in faster development of speed and in straight ahead acceleration it can reach a speed of around 80kmph. In general one can expect a mileage of 65kmpl in city and up to 70kmpl in the highway.
This is a lightweight motorcycle with a peppy engine, the sleek design makes it even easier for the rider for effective control over the narrow path and congested roads one can come across in town and village conditions. The ride quality is enhanced with a firm grip of the strong alloy wheels of R17 size fitted with the tubed tyre. The seat is given good cushioning and offer comfortable posture for the rider and can be handy for long rides as well. The pillion rider portion is also made broader and offer better comforts for the pillion passenger of any age group.
Safety, brakes and miscellaneous
Though the vehicle is of smaller dimensions as compared to standard matic motorcycles, the smooth and quick responding engine make it a reliable motorcycle. The performance is enhanced with better cushioning for the rider and co-passenger supported with stronger twin shock absorber at the rear wheel and telescopic shock absorber at the front wheel. The disc brakes at front wheel operated through hand lever on right side of the handlebar and the rear drum brakes operated through the pedal. The easy to operate center stand makes it very convenient for firm parking of the vehicle.
This is an entry-level motorcycle with no compromise in performance and latest technology accessories and trendy design features as well and makes a worthy selection for regular commuting over short distances.
