Functionality yields freedom to offer you the power of mobility with the new naked motorcycle from the oldest Italian manufacturer, Benelli titled as the Benelli TNT 250. The motorcycle marks its global debut at the 2014 EICMA motorcycle show in Milan. The bike is a naked street bike that is poured in power by a 250cc engine and follows the same naming scheme as its siblings. The “TNT” refers to the initials of 'Tornado Naked Tre', where 'Naked' is the body type. The “250” unit refers to the engine capacity of 250cc.
The designers of the Benelli TNT 250 have done an impeccable job by giving the bike a particularly sporty and impressive personality. The front face of the bike is a tilt from the usual front styling of its TNT siblings, the bike has a different visor design that covers the new large headlamps. With this, the bike has the exclusive USD (Upside Down) fork front suspension and distinct type monoshock rear suspension design that along with adding a comfortable ride fetches aesthetic charm. The bike follows a split seat design while the rear design of the bike is given a slim and sporty design that shows off the wide rear tyres. The bike has a very neatly assembled design with no voids between the body parts, thanks to the designers. The precisely calculated exterior dimensions of the bike are – 2115 mm x 1130mm x 800 mm (L x W x H) with a stable wheelbase of 1405 mm.
The naked motorcycle from Benelli drinks down the power of propulsion owing to the 250cc, 2-cylinder, 4-stroke engine that is integrated with DOHC (double overhead camshaft) and is water-cooled. This engine generates a power output of 23.5 kW at 12000 rpm and a maximum torque of 20 Nm at 9000 rpm. Meshed with this power-mill is the 6-speed Constant Mesh gearbox that offers crisp-smooth gear transitions and lets the motorcycle flaunt competitive acceleration values.
The slim and sporty design of the bike features some precise and definite handling proportions that further enhances the desire for the bike. The bike is encased with light-weight aluminium wheels that are covered with high-grip performance tyres. With this, the wide rear tyres of the bike that have dimensions reading – 160/60-R17 fetches excellent cornering capabilities to the bike. The rear-set footpegs and the flat handlebars result in a marginally sporty yet comfortable riding posture for the rider.
The sporty styling of the bike is safe too. The bike has a dependable body strength that has been yielded by the tough steel and aluminium body construction of the bike. The efficient braking system that accentuates the controlling characteristics and provides retardation to the motor comprises of front twin disc brakes and single discs at the rear wheels. With this, the bike body is supported on the supportive suspension system that consists of exclusive USD (Upside down) fork unit with Inverter Hydraulic Damping front suspension and exclusively designed monoshock rear suspension with Preload Spring Adjustment.
The well-talked about naked performance-dedicated commuter can be called sporty as well as comfortable at the same time owing to its desirable handling characteristics and impressive design. However, the bike has a tough competition with the already established motorcycles is within the 250cc segment.
