Porsche Panamera Review
Porsche Panamera is a luxury sedan from the German manufacturer. This car shares its looks with the Carrera sports cars and looks like its revamped version. The internal assembly of this car is quite different to that of Carrera and it is meant for street drives and highway cruising. This car is visible on roads since 2009 and is been manufactured in its home country and then exported worldwide. The V6 engine is fixed at the front end of the car while the power is transmitted to the rear wheel. The car looks extremely sporty and the four door coupe effect makes it practically well versed.
Engine, mileage & variants
The Porsche Panamera is available with a lot of engine options, but the Indonesian market has received a single option. The 3.6-liter 24 valve DOHC V6 engine pumps under the hood and develops 310 hp of power at 6200 rpm. It is accompanied with a huge torque output worth 400 Nm at 3750 rpm. The engine works efficiently over lower revs and keeps the fun intact. It is mounted at the front end of the car and behaves well while performing. It also has got a frugal acceleration which takes it to 100 kmph of speed from zero in just 6.3 seconds. The top speed of the Panamera is 259 kmph. With 8.9 kmpl of mileage, the car sounds to be a good deal for pocket as well.
The pure Porsche design and traits have been carried over the Panamera. From some angles, it looks to be elongated Carrera, but this car has a five door setup and hence, it makes its bracket under sedan category. The style is unique and the plea is commendable which has given it muscle as well at few locations. The Panamera is braced under the dimensions following 5015 mm of length, 1931 mm of width and 1418 mm of height. The wheelbase is long enough with 2920 mm to feed space inside the three boxes of the car. The wheel sizes are available with 18 to 20 inch rim sizes wearing 245/50 R18 to 295/35 R20 tyre sizes as per the need.
The high quality leather all over the cabin makes a lot of sense in Panamera, the premium feel of the seats and dashboard are exceptionally designed for luxury. The material used inside the cabin is plush and can be customized as per the owner's preferences with different wood and metal materials on offer. Additionally, user can also choose from Bose or Bermester surround system for infotainment fun. Being a sedan, the car has a good rear seat, but it can accommodate only two passengers which is a sedan contradict. However, the legroom and headroom over there is decent. The four doors arrangement is a good approach for getting in the car and the 445 liters of boot space is efficient to hold big while 1263 liters of boot with rear seats down can carry your big accessories for sports as well.
Safety, Braking and Miscellaneous
The Porsche cars are unbeatably the finest among the competition when the ride and handling are concerned. The PSM (Porsche Stability Management) carries a bunch of sensors to observe the direction of vehicle and other parameters. The lightening system is smart enough with LED lights to bend the projection towards the direction of vehicle's move and adds visibility to the blind turns. The ceramic composite brakes at both the ends of the car endows optimum braking distance with their 6 piston caliper at the front and 4 piston caliper at the rear. The whole chassis is made of aluminum and magnesium with inserts of high tensile steel in vital areas. Apart from these, the standard fitments in this car include ABS, Airbags with amount of impact sensing system, active bonnet and anti theft protection.
The Porsche Panamera is a great car to drive and is purely a driver's delight. It has a great engine with impressive torque and power. It manages well over turns and provides a lot of confidence. The practicality is an issue in this car on high traffic roads.
