Porsche Cayenne Review

The Cayenne is a sibling of VW Touareg and Audi Q7 with which it shares the platform and other major assemblies. It was introduced in 2002 and subjected to few facelifts and mild updates with the time. This vehicle is the most distinct and offbeat player in the lot due to its unconventional and exotic design. However, it is the Porsche's signature styling which is reflected over all the vehicles of this firm. The V-6 engine powering the wheels of this car is a punchier affair and frugal as well. This engine finds its place in other cars of the firm also where it performed healthily. The ride and control of this car is purely German and obeys the road cornering laws.

Engine, mileage & variants

The 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine from Audi has made its way in the Cayenne. This is a thirsty engine, but has a lot of power for roads. The gasoline powered engine is good on performance and it has flat torque output for a good rpm range. The performance of this supercharged V6 is enormous with 300 hp of power at 6300 rpm with torque output of 400 Nm at 3000 rpm. The fuel consumption of the Cayenne is 10.8 kmpl on an average. It accelerates from zero to 100 kmph in just 7.7 seconds while the top speed remains to be 230 kmph.

The Porsche Cayenne is designed in its family design layout; the audacious nature has met with the luxury design which seems to be futuristic and binding. The body lines and arrangement of equipments is carried out sensibly making it a visually incomparable vehicle. The callous looking face is inserted with multiple apparatuses to enhance its usability and style. The Cayenne is 4855 mm long,1939 mm wide and 1705 mm tall. It has a strong wheelbase size of 2895 mm. The 18 inch alloy wheels are playing the rolling job with 255/55 R18 sized tyres.

With comfortable seats and cabin area, the Cayenne robs the attention for its premium upholstery. The dashboard is like a cockpit with loads of buttons with the sporty dynamics defined by the positioning of buttons, handles and AC vents along with the coloring scheme hued all over the wood. The front seats are 8 way electrically adjustable while the rear seats are approachable with slide and recline function. The fully functional steering wheel holds all major buttons fro audio controllers, vehicle controls and Bluetooth controls along with paddle shifts. The two zone climate control is mounted below the audio system with 7-inch touchscreen display. The luggage compartment is bulky in abundance to hold 1780 liters of cargo.

Safety, Braking and Miscellaneous

The stability and handling are exceptionally well crafted in this SUV. The bi-xenon headlamps at the front make it very clear to roam on blind roads easily while the driver assistance system keeps the driver's vision clear and focused on the roads. The adaptive cruise control and Porsche Active Safe system commands for the better efficiency and smart braking while sensing any hazardous obstacle in the path. Additionally, the vehicle is covered up with lane departure warning, lane change assist, parking assist with camera, ABS, airbags, traction control, etc. The structure is rigid and light for utmost safe dynamics.

The Porsche Cayenne is a driver's car which is good on handling and stability. It maneuvers great and has a good sort of standard equipments. At all speeds, it behaves wisely, but falls short when compared with the competitors like Mercedes and Land Rover. The unique design is an added plus point for the car.
