Audi Q5 Review
The Audi Q5 was introduced amongst the global audience in the year 2008 after the flagship Audi Q7 got successfully on the grounds in the year 2002. For the very same reason, the Q5 managed to stretch few of its characteristics into it. The vehicle here is based on the Audi's Modular longitudinal Platform which is also shared with the Audi A5 sedan car. It carries good engines which are bound to thrill the enthusiasts with its performance. Petrol and diesel engines have made their entry into the Q5 which suits best for the objective over which they were planned. The responsive petrol motor is supercharged for added performance while the diesel engine is also decent and reliable.
Engine, mileage & variants
The Audio Q5 entered the Indonesian market with both petrol and diesel engines. These machines are assisted with apt dynamics to boost up the power and performance. The 2.0-liter TFSI petrol engine is the conventional FSI technology equipped unit but with the added power of a turbocharger. This enhancement has lifted up the power figures of the engine to reach 211 hp between 4300 to 6000 rpm along with a max torque of 350 Nm between 1500 to 4200 rpm. The another petrol engine on offer is a non turbocharged version with 3.2 liter displacement and it stretches the power to 270 hp at 6500 rpm with 330 Nm torque between 3000 to 5000 rpm. The diesel engines on offer are equipped with 2.0-liter and 3.0-liter configurations which is bound to churn out 170 bhp at 4200 rpm and 240 bhp between 4000 to 4400 rpm with a max torque of 350 Nm and 500 Nm respectively between 1500 to 3000 rpm. The 3.2 TFSI takes just 6.9 seconds to touch the 100 kmph milestone from zero which is brilliant for an SUV of such size.
This SUV is based on the the Audi A5 sedan and shares the same platform. But, as it is an SUV, the big Q5 has wider and taller body which have enhanced the vehicle and allows it to behave like an SUV. However, the robustness is still kept intact into it while having the impression of styling of the A5. It has a 4629 mm of length with 1880 mm of width and 1653 mm of height. The wheelbase offered to the same is 2807 mm making it roomy and comfortable. The front grill is the same signature grille of Audi with bi-xenon headlamps on either sides and astounding day time running lights. The side profile is kept simple and stable while the rear is simplistic, yet the brand logo at the center makes an impression. The complete design is simplistic yet appealing.
The cabin is extravagant with everything placed correctly and precisely. The material used inside is also of great quality and feels chunkier than any other rival. The Q5 has got some borrowed parts from the A5 here also and it is comfortable, but you may find places which seem to be resemble the sedan. The cabin finish is great, but it lacks few equipments which the rivals have not missed out on. The good thing to count in this SUV is the centrally mounted control equipments. The MMI installed on the dashboard displays all the vital details of the car on fingertips to make it easier for the driver. For luggage, there is a 540 liters of generous boot space with luggage safety system for safe and convenient storage.
Safety, Braking and Miscellaneous
The Audi Q5 is easy to handle and maneuver in city and highway conditions. The SUV is good in terms of ride also, but the inclusion of air suspension at the rear would have been reasonable here. One can drive it like the A5, but with a little more caution due to its tall body. The company has made this little SUV puffed with safety aspects. It is combined with front, side and curtain airbags for both the rows, traction control, parking sensors, rear view camera and blind spot warning system. The base trim is packed with 18-inch alloy wheels which are good on overall dynamics, but the 19-inch units are better than the former. The tyre size on these wheels are 235/60 R18 and 235/55 R 19 respectively.
The Audi Q5 has all the necessary features of an SUV and also offers a good off-road experience. But it has many competitors that offer better comforts and better off-road capabilities.
