As the part of its 2016 lineup, Kawasaki released the Sugomi variant of its iconic naked streetfighter – Z1000. Tagged as 'Sugomi Sisters', 2016 variants of Z1000 and Z800 was unveiled at the 2015 EICMA show. Kawasaki has bestowed both the bikes with visual enhancements while the technical trim remains the same. The Sugomi Z1000 with the sport a new color scheme, with burgundy and black, giving it a distinctive appeal on the road. Along with the new color scheme, Z1000 also gets a more angular headlamp to accentuate its sporty and aggressive look. Along with this, Kawasaki also introduced three new colors of Versys 1000 in Indonesia.

Design


Without a doubt, Kawasaki Z1000 is the most good looking naked streetfighter bike available in Indonesia. Z1000 design aesthetics is based on 'Sugomi' concept, that bestow it an aggressive and predatory appearance, unlike any other bike in its segment. The bikes look nothing less than a beat, with its voracious mask headlights mounted on the front cowl, followed by an arching fuel tank that provide upright riding position and impressive tank shrouds on each side on the fuel tank give Z1000 an in for the kill look, that will intimidate every other bike on the road. The bike is also equipped with a digital instrument cluster that displays speedometer, trip-meter, fuel gauge and an analogue tachometer.

Engine, Economy & Performance


The Z1000 is known for its blazing power and top-notch performance, which it takes from a compelling 1,043cc, liquid-cooled, in-line four cylinder, a four-stroke motor that comes mated to a six-speed transmission system and uses wet multi-plate clutch assembly. This fierce power-plant blasts a mind-boggling 140bhp at 10,000rpm along with a peak torque of 111NM at 7,300rpm. Kawasaki engineers have used the second set of ECUcontrolled throttle valves to heighten engine performance and an oval sub-throttle to maximize intake airflow while keeping the engine slim. Owing to this, the bike accelerates from 0 to 100kmph in just 3.4 seconds and hits a top speed of 258kmph. The engine is installed with a cutting-edge rider exhilaration that delivers a dynamic response, a strong mid-range hit and an intoxicating intake howl.

Handling


Kawasaki Z1000 is based on a sturdy and rigid aluminium frame with a high degree of mass centralization, that delivers firm handling and sharp turning. Kawasaki has kept Z1000 lightweight at 220kg, to ensure nimble turning along with good stability. The two main frame components have open C-shaped cross sections and were die-cast to ensure a smooth surface finish. The superb handling of Z1000 is attributed to its new 41 mm inverted fork suspension which delivers both comfortable and sporty ride. Instead of traditional Uni-trak rear suspension, Kawasaki has integrated Z1000 with new Horizontal Back-link rear suspension with contributing to mass centralization. The large fuel tank in designed to solve the dual purpose of providing the bike with an enticing look and also delivering a refined riding position and super knee grip. The wide-set fat bar made of aluminium ideally suits its super naked appeal along with bestowing amazing control to the rider.

Safety, Braking and Miscellaneous


To ensure effective braking, Kawasaki Z1000's sophisticated braking package include triple petal discs, radial-mount monobloc calipers and radial-pump front brake master cylinder. The new monobloc calipers and new brake pad material contribute to a stronger initial bite, superb brake feeling and formidable stopping power. The stopping power gets more precise and aggressive with the incorporation of a high-performance ABS unit to the package. The bike has been installed with a Separate Function Fork - Big Piston (SFF-BP) progressive suspension setup in which the preload adjustability is carried out in the left fork while the damping duties are done in the right one. The complete braking mechanism delivers splendid stopping powers, aiding the rider to feel confident on high speeds and difficult terrains.
