On the outside, there has been a lot of improvements in Toyota Avanza with high dynamic stability complimented with well defined character lines, new radiator grilles, roof spoiler, dynamic head-lamp and tail lamps. Its rear drive train helps generate ample power which works well in providing more acceleration. The top speed of the car measures at 165kmph on the tachometer. The 1.3-litre variant does not disappoint either racing 0-100 kmph from a halt in 15 seconds.
The exteriors of Toyota Avanza have been designed by keeping the theme sporty in mind. The front features sporty front grille and body colored bumpers . Even the side view mirrors are body colored. However, one thing missing on the Avanza was electronically controlled side view mirrors. The lighting equipment on the front comprises of a multi-reflector headlamp, round bright fog lamps and turn indicators. The roof spoiler is maintained on a decently high position, as a result vehicles approaching from a distance get a clear view of your vehicle braking. The taillights are conventionally stacked upon each other making the entire look neat and clean. One major inclusion was the inclusion of a rear spoiler and wiper which comes handy under unfavorable weather. Avanza comes with 15 inch alloys making the ride even more comfortable.

Being an entry level MPV, you probably wouldn't expect much out of Toyota Avanza when it comes to interiors, but surprisingly it does not fail to impress. The plush interiors give the driver a bit more ‘upmarket’ experience ditching the conventional utility style on most MPV’s. The lowered instrument cluster offers better visibility. This is complemented by centrally located controls of air-vents, ventilation and audio controls. The interiors of Toyota Avanza have been intelligently designed by the means of thinner seat backs and door trimmings. All of this is done to increase the leg space, thus providing ultimate comfort to the passenger. The steering wheel embedded with Audio control switches, on the front of which is a dedicated MID display which displays fuel consumption and cruising range along with the standard display features (Available with only Luxury variants).
The dashboard is expected to be spacious enough to carry documents, CDs and other miscellaneous stuff. Avanza comes with a stock audio system which is decent enough with four speakers. However, audiophiles would want to get a custom, and a heavy audio player installed.

The base variants (auto and manual transmission) employ a K3-VE 4 cylinder,in line, 16 valve DOHC engine with VVTi, the maximum output power is 92 PS at 6000 rpm in line with a maximum starting torque measuring 117 Nm at 4400 rpm.
The base variant Toyota Avanza 1.3E employs 14 inch steel rims, while all the other variants appoint 14 inch or 15 inch alloy rims depending on the variants. The tyre size for 14 inch rims measures 185/70 R14 and that for 15 inch alloy rims measures 185/65 R15.
All the variants of Toyota Avanza come embedded with Integrated audio system with top variants appointing a 2-DIN Head Unit with Tuner, CD Player, WMA, AUX-Jack, USB and iPod Compatibility alongside 6 speakers. The entry level variants employ a pretty primitive 1-DIN Head Unit CD Player with Tuner, MP3, AUX-Jack and USB. 6 speakers are embedded in the 1.5-litre variants as opposed to 4 in the base variant.
The Toyota Avanza comes with a very efficient braking system. The front brakes are loaded up with disc brakes while the rear uses a drum brake. The braking system lies in tandem with the suspension of the Avanza making the ride smoother and safer. The MacPherson Strut with Coil Spring & Stabiliser in the front and the 4-link suspension with coil spring and lateral rod makes aids Avanza in tiding over those potholes with absolute ease leaving the passengers not knowing what they just went through.
While focusing on the aesthetics, Toyota has made sure that safety is not compromised. It comes with several safety features to keep both the driver and the passenger safe in case of any mishap. Toyota has strengthened the body to a new level. The GOA (Global Outstanding Assessment) body makes the ride even safer. In the case of any collision, the force of the impact is dissipated throughout the entire body of the frame to minimize the risk of injury to the passengers. The top model, which is the 1.5L variant boasts of dual SRS airbags for the driver and the front passenger. It also has the Anti-Lock braking system (ABS) coupled with EBD + Brake assist which allows the car to have a firm tractive grip on the road. Both the airbags and the ABS are not present in the 1.3L variant.
