Subaru WRX Review
Subaru WRX is a performance sedan car and it comes with an all wheel drive. The speedy ergonomics and aggressive stance of the WRX are true to its action personality. It wears the body of a proper four door car with comfortable seating areas for all the occupants. It boasts the brand's boxer engine to churn out heavy performance figures. The car is well to do from inside as well and has a lot of equipments to get the driver's hands on them. The ride quality of the car is decent and stiff and gets an added clutch with high on grip tyres on duty to meet all the requirements for a performance car.
Engine, mileage & variants
WRX has got the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder 16-valve DOHC turbocharged boxer engine which runs on petrol. The acceleration and pick up are extremely fast and it manages well to satuate every enthusiasts' desire to hit the road. The power generation from this engine is 268 PS at 5600 rpm and the max torque is 350 Nm between 2400 rpm to 5200 rpm. The car is frugally fast with the acceleration time of just 5 second to reach 100 kmph from zero. The 6 speed manual and automatic transmissions are good for all the respective purposes of this car. The fastest that the car can go is 232 kmph. It also provides a decent fuel efficiency of about 11 kmpl depending on the road driven.
This car doesn't have the sporty face and equipment level which Dodge charger, Ford Mustang or Chevrolet Camaro have, rather it looks quite simple from all the angles and the bonnet scoop along with black alloy wheels and inserts in the body are the only thing that makes it look sporty. It looks good and sensible but the competition has bolder faces. The WRX counts its dimensions as 4595 mm of length, 1795 mm of width and 1475 mm of height. It has a long wheelbase of 2650 mm which is perfect for its 4 wheel drive abilities and to keep the car balanced. The 135 mm of ground clearance is super low and aids in running, but might pose a problem on rough roads The tyres it wears on the 17-inch alloys are of 235/45 R 17 dimension.
A lot of things have been incorporated inside the cabin; the dashboard is multi functional and is glued with sporty supplements like the red color stitchings over the seats and steering wheel leather wrapping. Just like any other sports car, the Subaru WRX is also installed with sports inspired seats for added support to the admirer's appeal. Steering wheel is made functional with all the physical controls for audio system, cruise control and paddle shifts. People can enjoy the racing tracks with music on the high quality stereo system with Bluetooth connectivity, USB/Aux support and multi functional display with boost pressure meter. The rear seats are comfortable and have good knee room and head room as well. In the boot, one can store a decent 340 liters of cargo stuff.
Safety, Braking and Miscellaneous
The WRX has excellent road manners and it moves briskly over tracks. The stability is top notch and the steering is responsive at all the times. Their is a lot of safety aspect embedded into the car including the anti lock braking system with electronic brake force distribution. The brake assist feature is a good thing to manage with the driver's fatigue situation during emergency. It brings down the speed in a significantly low time. The use of high tensile steel in the chassis protects the passengers during a crash, while the airbags at the front, side and curtain positions airbags promises for best protection.
Subaru WRX gives you the best of both worlds by providing brutal performance along with comfortable city car characteristics. However, if you're an extreme enthusiast, then the WRX might look mild to you.
