Nissan X-Trail Review

Nissan X-Trail is a product by Japanese auto manufacturer Nissan. This mid-size SUV was launched in the year 2000 and got its third makeover done in the year 2013. A sporty structure, comfort features for the passengers and 2 powerpacked engines, is what you get in the Nissan X-Trail. In Indonesia, this 7-seater 5-door vehicle is available with 4x4 transmission transfer case so that the driver can switch between 2WD, 4WD and 4WD lock as per the requirement. X-Trail shares its exterior designing with another Nissan prodigy, Qashqai.

Engine, mileage & variants

Nissan X-Trail houses 2 engines with different capacities under its hood. The mighty 2.5-litre 16 valve DOHC powerhouse of this vehicle churns out a peak power of 171 PS at 6000 rpm along with a peak torque measuring 233 Nm at 4000 rpm. The mileage delivered by this 2.5-litre engine is 8.3-litre/100 km. The younger sibling, the 2.0-litre 16 valve DOHC engine generates a maximum power of 144 PS at 6000 rpm and a peak torque measuring 200 Nm at 4000 rpm. This engine accelerates from a standstill and reaches 100 kmph in just 11.1 seconds with a peak speed of 184 kmph. The 2.0-litre engine gives a better mileage in comparison to the gutsy 2.5-litre engine with 7.1-litre/100 kms. The 2.5-litre engine comes with CVT and the 2.0-litre engine comes with an option of CVT and M/T.

The aerodynamic Nissan X-Trail comes with crisp bodylines which truly showoffs the sportiness of this vehicle. The classy front grille along with adaptive headlights creates a positive first impression about this vehicle. To add more to its sporty structure, roof rails and chrome linings are featured at the exterior. X-Trail is a 7-seater and comes with ample space for all its passengers. This vehicle stands at 4640 mm x 1820 mm x 1720 mm (L x W x H) along with wheelbase measuring at 2705 mm and ground clearance of 210 mm. This crossover has 17-inch alloy wheels which are complemented by 225/65 R17 tires for a firm grip and stable ride on any terrain.

Nissan X-Trail flaunts a well crafted interior with advanced technology integrated within. This interior has elegant trim from instrument panel to the doors which gives it a perfect feel of SUV. The leather covered seats, glossy black centre console and steering wheel & gearshift knob with leather covering, altogether makes it look very graceful. Fun and entertainment is also provided on board for the passengers. The infotainment system in Nissan X-Trail consists of MP3/CD/AM/FM along with Bluetooth/USB/AUX connectivity. A 5-inch screen and 6 speakers are provided for the entertainment and navigation purpose. Coming on to the boot space, this mid-size SUV has 550-litres of trunk space after folding its third row seats which can be expanded to a maximum of 1520 litres after folding all the 3 seats of seconds row as well.

Safety, Braking and Miscellaneous

Nissan X-Trail is packed with various safety features to ensure that this vehicle and its occupants will stay safe during minor and major crashes. Airbags and seat belts are employed for the passengers so that they may stay protected in case of a collision. Also, this vehicle is safeguarded with Anti-Lock Braking System, Active Brake Limited Slip, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and Traction Control System for good stability of the vehicle while applying emergency brakes at elevated speeds. This vehicle comes with ventilated disc brakes at all its 4 wheels along with McPherson Strut Independent along with stabilizer suspension at front and multi-link independent along with stabilizer suspension at rear for best handling of this Nissan product.

Nissan X-Trail is indeed a good vehicle when it comes to space, power and performance. However, this perfect looking family vehicle does lack the SUV thrill if you take it away from the tarmac and on to some off-road paths.
