Earlier owned by British Motor Corporation (BMC), the Mini was owned by several other auto glories, this might be the reason for the brand's success. With its progress in producing small cars, the brand also tried its fate in the sports utility segment in the year 2010, with the unveiling of the Mini Countryman. And now with its face lifted version the brand has set another milestone in the auto world. Being a subcompact crossover SUV, this is the first of its type car launched by BMW under the Mini badge. Unveiled at the 2010 North American Auto Show, this Mini gained a huge fame with its style and performance and now with the up-gradation, the brand is all set to receive some great laurels.
In order to give versatility to its model, the brand has come up with three variants- Cooper, Cooper S and the high performance John Cooper Works variant. The 1.6-litre in- line 4-cylinder engine housed in the haunched hood knocks out a power ranging from 122 hp to 218 hp (between 5500 rpm to 6500 rpm). With optional permanent all-wheel drive arrangement, the Countryman is availed with a peak torque range of 160 Nm to 280 Nm (between 1600 rpm to 5000 rpm). 6-speed transmission mated with the powerhouse allows it to reach 100 km/h in just 7 seconds, at the same time the propulsion only comes to an end at 225 km/h. Efficient turbocharger roofed under the hood allows the Mini to deliver a decent mileage of 17 km/l.
