Mercedes Benz M-Class Review
Mercedes-Benz correctly defines its popularity with its prestigious stand as one of the 'German Big 3', which lists it as one of the best-selling luxury car brands. The German automaker has another product to add to its prestige named as Mercedes Benz M-Class. The car is a mid-size luxury SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle), which was introduced by the brand in 1997 as a 1998 model and gradually the car became a sales success in the United States and in Mexico. The car falls in between the smaller GLK-Class and the larger GL-Class with which it shares its platform. The car is presently running in its third generation and is expected to earn a lot of sales success in the Indonesian market with its robust and impressive design and desirable driving experience.
Engine, mileage and variants:
The dynamic and stable SUV comes in three variants namely- the ML 259 BlueTEC 4MATIC diesel variant, the ML 400 variant and the ML 63 AMG variant. The diesel variant of the car is pumped by the 2143cc R4 BlueTEC diesel engine which delivers the peak power output of 150kW at 4200 rpm and a mileage value of 6.0 to 6.5 l/100km, while the most powerful ML 63 AMG variant of the car is powered by a 5461cc V8 bi-turbo petrol engine which pours out a maximum power output of 386kW between 5250 to 5750 rpm and a torque output of 760 Nm between 2000 to 5000 rpm, along with maintaining a fuel consumption value of 11.8 l/100km. The V8 bi turbo petrol engine in coordination with the AMG SpeedShift Plus 7-speed automatic transmission has the ability to pull the car with a speed of 100km/h from a standstill in just 4.7 sec.
The exterior designing of the car is done to display a perfect mould of sophisticated robustness. The impressive and fascinating front look of the car is a product of the expressive three chromed slat radiator grille, projecting LED headlamps, exclusive fog lamp design and a dominating front bumper design, which gives the car a commanding road presence. The car has a stretched body skin configuration which adds to the manly tough look of the car. The SUV features a sporty and powerful rear look with features like the large roof spoiler, sporty tail lights with LED fiber optics, horizontal lines in the tailgate, well-tweaked rear bumper design and the large tailgate with a high-gloss handle. The interiors of the M-Class has been kept quite modern and space friendly. The driver is poured with a desirable amount of satisfaction with the purely ergonomic and practical control panel, 4-spoke multifunction leather wrapped steering wheel, two-tube illuminated instrument cluster and well-configured and precise infotainment system, which encloses a treasure of useful information for the driver. The cabin features large and solemnly comfortable leather covered seats with active headrests and arm rests, folding rear seat backrests split 1/3 to 2/3 and adjustable for angle and electrically adjustable front seats. The other technologies which widens the comfort zone for the occupants are Thermatic automatic climate control, Panoramic Sunroof and the excellent quality Harmon Kardon Sound system which lets you enjoy your favorite genres. Along with all this comfort and technology, the occupants are gifted with a luxurious amount of head and legroom along with a cargo volume of 690 litres which can be extended to about 2010 liters.
Safety, braking and miscellaneous:
The engineers have assured the occupants with an ample amount of safety features,which includes the Adaptive Braking system with Hold function and brake drying in wet conditions, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), EBD (Electronic Brake-Force Distribution), ASR (Acceleration Skid Control), Hill-Start Assist, ESP (Electronic Stability Program), ETS (Electronic Traction Control), cruise control with Speedtronic variable speed limiter, Pre-Safe system, Isofix child seat attachment points in rear, tyre pressure loss warning and front, side and curtain airbags. The braking system incorporated in the car consists of front and rear disc brakes.
