The sedan with probably the biggest legacy in the history of automobile world all over the world, Honda City has also reached tremendous heights in ASEAN market. The customer-favorite Honda City has received yet another facelift and the newest generation has made its appearance in Indonesian markets. All thanks to its superior fuel economy, high performance, stylish chassis, sumptuous interiors and a reasonable price tag. It is a Sedan with dynamic design, posh technology-flushed interiors and can be related to all the age segments, making it a bag of all-treat.Honda City in the indigenous market is available in 3 variants: City S, City E and City ES. These variants are available in both Manual and Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). The top-end Honda City only appoints CVT Auto-transmission in its chassis. The engine of the car has 1.5-litre 4 cylinder, 16 valve configuration, upon this engine Honda City employs an advanced technology known as Intelligent Variable Timing and Lift Electronic Control (i-VTEC) which improves the overall volumetric efficiency. The smart dynamic design defined by the sporty aerodynamic design with the new platinum grille is a delight. The dynamic bumper, rear chrome garnish and the sporty combination lamp adds to the beauty quotient of the car. The jet black interior theme of the car gives this star sedan a sporty appearance. The car has also been embedded with a 6.1 inch LCD display on the contemporary dashboard which is an interface of audio and multimedia controls. The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution(EBD) and the Brake Assist(BA) ensure a safe ride for the passengers.All the variants of Honda City are deployed with 1.5L SOHC i-VTEC engine which draws out a maximum power output of 120 PS at 6600 rpm alongside a maximum torque measuring 145 Nm at 4600 rpm.

Mileage and Fuel Economy

Honda City excels in this segment much thanks to its CVT transmission which also minimizes the exhaust emission and contributes towards an eco-friendly innovation. The superior technology used in Honda City makes the car fuel efficient. The mileage of with variants employing manual transmission clocks is 16.8 km/l. The variants with CVT transmission take the game up a notch providing a mileage of 18 km/l.


When it comes to power, Honda City provides decent statistics. The 1.5L SOHC i-VTEC engine implemented in all the variants draws out a maximum power of 120 PS at 6600 rpm alongside a peak torque of 145 Nm at 4600 rpm.

Acceleration and Pick Up

Acceleration of the car is again controlled by the revolutionary Continuously Variable Transmission linked with Earth Dreams Technology. The i-VTEC technology mobilizes efficient mixing of fuel as a result of which Honda City gives an impressive acceleration. It can achieve 0-100 km/hr mark in 10.5 seconds and clock a top speed of 190 km/hr.


Honda is well known for manufacturing cars having aesthetic design and seductive appearance. The Japanese manufacturing giants have designed the exterior very elegantly. The cynosure of the attraction is the new platinum grilles in the Honda City ES. The waist lines are more distinctive and detailed as compared to its predecessor models. The integrated fog lamps, the graceful side door mirrors with LED turning signals and the elegant shark antenna add to the style quotient. The artistic creases below the chrome door handles and right bottom of the car, the curvy bulges above the wheels and the sporty black colored B-pillar give a touch of sophistication. The rear silver garnish adds to the sophistication.

Exterior Measurements

The overall dimensions of the car stand out to be 4442mm x 1694mm x 1477mm (L x W x H) alongside a ground clearance of 150 mm. The wheelbase of the new Honda City is 2600 mm which makes the cabin space spacious with enough legroom and headroom.


The matt black theme of the car gives a sporty look. The leather wrapped steering wheel and gear knob add to the flamboyant appearance. A 6.1 inch LCD display with excellent visibility has been embedded on the dashboard which is basically an interface of various audio and other multimedia functions. The leather upholstery inside is a masterpiece. Automatic air conditioning system with touchscreen panel has been incorporated on the dashboard.

Interior Comfort

Honda City offers a large cabin space with ample head room and leg room, thanks to its large wheelbase. The rear seats can be split folded which offers an ample boot space. Besides that, central console storage with armrest, 3 power sockets, a glovebox, 8 cup holders and 2 USB ports have been provided. The tilt and telescopic steering wheel has been embedded with various audio controls. The power windows switch panels have a silver garnish which gives a sumptuous look. A keyless power start button saves you from the effort of starting the engine using the key. For the given price tag, one could not ask for more.

Interior Measurements

When it comes to interior space and boot capacity, City stands tall among all the sedans. With a boot space measuring 2600mm enough headroom and legroom is ensured for the passengers. The sedan offers 485 litres of boot space which can further increase manifold after the rear seats are folded.

Engine and Performance

The New Honda City use the i-VTEC technology in it's engines as a result of which the car delivers high power and superior performance. The engine is 1.5-litre SOHC i-VTEC, 4 cylinders in line and 16 valves per cylinder type and is capable of generating power of 120 PS at 6600 rpm with the peak torque of 145 Nm at 4600 rpm. This powerful engine is accompanied by five speed manual transmission and more advanced Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) in other variants.

Stereo and Accessories

Have a look at Honda City dashboard and you will be overwhelmed. The base variant employs a 2 DIN audio system. Move up to the premium variants and you will get a 6.1 inch LCD display incorporated on the centre of the dashboard, which is basically an integration of audio and other multimedia functions. The 2 din audio system plays AM/FM and has a CD/DVD player with an AUX-in interface and USB ports. The leather wrapped steering wheel has been embedded with Hands Free Telephone (HFT) switch control which enhances the driving experience.


Honda City S is implemented with 15 inch alloy wheels and tyres of size 175/65 R15. Honda City E and ES are incorporated with 16 inch alloy wheels and tires of size 185/55 R16. The enlarged 16 inch alloy wheels adds to the overall aesthetic value of the new Honda City giving it a cutting edge look.

Braking and Handling

MacPherson Strut suspension with stabilizer applied on the front along with an H shape torsion beam suspension on the rear which ensure a perfect balance of fuel economy and swift handling. Ventilated disc brakes are applied on the front with drum brakes incorporated in the rear wheels. Another interesting attribute in the New Honda City is its support for speed paddle shift. It rather facilitates driver to change gear manually dispensing the clutch press and the driver need not actually change the gear.

Safety and Security

Honda has always maintained high levels of safety when it comes to its vehicles and it does not compromise on safety and security of the passengers with high power and performance. The City is equipped with front passenger's i-SRS airbags and i-side curtain airbags. The car uses G-Force Control Technology which includes Collision Safety Body and Occupant Restraint System which curbs the force transferred to the car in case of collision and also controls the force transferred to the passengers through the car body. The seatbelts have been provided with pretensioners and load limiters which prevents the passengers from sliding and also checks the force transferred through the seatbelt. Emergency Stop Signal has been incorporated which flashes hazard lights when the car stops suddenly because of some unwanted obstacle. The Hill Start Assist (HSA) prevents the car from rolling backwards on slopes. The Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) prevents the car from slipping on wet terrains and gives a superior adhesion during deceleration. The Vehicle Stability Assist(VSA) ensures a firm grip in case of tight cornering. The manufactures have also kept in mind the safety of small children. For that purpose, the car has been provided with ISO FIX system. The cruise control ensures maximum safety on highways.
