Mitsubishi Mirage is running down the Indonesian road for quite some time now and recently the company has informed about its plan to launch its latest venture, 2016 Mirage. The car is expected to grace the Indonesian land by the end of 2016. So, for the time being, all eyes are on PT Krama Yudha Tiga Berlian Motors, the official distributor of Mitsubishi cars in the country, who is yet to announce the definite plan for the same. In lot many ways, from body design language to cabin amenities, the new Mirage is different from its elder sibling. And believe us, all is done for good. The car is expected to give a strong competition to the likes of Honda Brio and Toyota Wigo, giving Indonesians a large fleet to choose from. As for its recent update, the new Mirage was seen impressing the Philippines audience at the recently concluded 2016 Manila International Auto Show, where it was accompanied by the 2016 Mitsubishi Montero Sport.
Under Mitsubishi Mirage's sleek hood resides a 1.2-litre three-cylinder MIVEC engine that comes powered with Mitsubishi Innovative Timing Electronic Control system. The said engine with its high-tech technology leads to improved fuel economy and lower CO2 emission. Coming to the power and torque figures, the 2016 Mitsubishi Mirage mirrors its elder sibling . The 1.2-litre mill can churn out 78 PS of maximum power and 100 Nm of peak torque. This high power is propelled to front wheels through either a Continuously Variable Transmission or 5-speed automatic transmission. One noticeable difference in the new Mirage on this front, is the inclusion of a new roller type camshaft.
Exterior is one such area where the 2016 Mitsubishi Mirage showed the maximum transformation. Though the exact dimensions figures are not out with speculated once reading as 3710 mm x 1665 mm x 1510 mm (l x w x h), enough for making it fall higher over its rivals. Also, its wheelbase and ground clearance measuring are satisfactory, giving greater legroom and smooth ride quality. Coming to the new body language, it is sleek and sporty, all at once, giving the new Mirage a head-turning presence. At the front, the car spots a honeycomb grille with silver outlining, projector-type headlamps, and chrome surrounds fog lamps. At the side, are present body colored door handles and 14 or 15-inch alloy wheels. Tailgate spoiler, LED taillight and tweaked bumper are some visible changes on the rear end. Overall the new Mirage carries gen-next looks with better curves and strong aerodynamic lines running through its body.
Like the exterior, the interior design too is revised, becoming more eye catchy and inviting. But it still doesn't match the many upgradations given to the exterior. In addition to being stylish and luxury ridden, the new Mirage carries many utility and comforting features. To its long list changes are included a new piano black texture that can be seen covering the center console and gearbox. Also, now it gets a three-spoke steering wheel, new instrument binnacle, and 7-inch infotainment system with connectivity features like USB, AUX, CD, Bluetooth, and AM/FM. Additional features like GPS and SD slot are restricted for the top trim.
Safety has always been on priority for Mitsubishi, not only its high-priced cars but also, the mass market comes stuffed with best-in-class safety equipment. 2016 Mitsubishi Mirage is no exception to this trend and carries all the essential stuff. To the list are included basic safety gear like RISE Body, Anti-lock Braking System, Dual SRS Airbag, ELR Seatbelt and Immobilizer.
All in all, new Mitsubishi Mirage like its older version promises to deliver the same ride quality and fuel efficiency. Only now with better exterior appeal and interior comfort. Also, 2016 Mirage is expected to bring along a revised price list that will rightly justify the additions it carries.
