KIA Picanto Review
Kia Picanto is a mini 4-door hatchback car revealed in the year 2004 and is manufactured in a joint venture with Donghee in South Korea. The South Korean manufacturer has designed this car with stylish muscular lines employed on its overall exteriors and completed this car in small precise dimensions. For Indonesia residents, it is available in single trim equipped with 1.2-litre engine and delivers fuel economic result. But, doesn't give any exceptional result in terms of pick numbers and acceleration.
Engine, Mileage & Variants
The sole engine equipped as standard in this hatchback is offered in only single variant to the residents of Indonesia. It is packed in Kappa 1.2-litre, 1248cc MPI (Multi-point Injection) engine that churns out a maximum power output of 87 PS at 6000 rpm along with a peak torque of 12.2 kgm at 4000 rpm. Packed in this engine, it is fuel efficient as it takes fuel consumption of 5.9 l/100km in urban driving, 3.9 l/100km in extra urban driving and 4.7 l/100km in combined driving cycle. Whereas, it delivers acceleration count of 13.2 seconds in speeding from stationary position to 100km/h and top speed is 171 km/h.
This 4-door hatchback is a small car by Kia, designed in overall dimensions 3593 mm x 1595 mm x 1490 mm (L x W x H) along with the wheelbase of 2385mm. Sporty and stylish, is its new definition talking about its dynamics. Embraced with the presence of stylish urban headlamps, small bonnet, radiated tiger roar grille pattern and company insignia embedded on the centre features the front facade of the car. Due to its short and peppy style, it appears adorable and charming at times and is the best car for city driving.
Coming to the interior segment of this mini car, it is embellished in the presence of blackish-tinge covered seats which enhance the sophistication of the car maintaining harmony with other interior features. In addition, gray colored inserts of detailing has been added to the steering wheel, dashboard, gear shift knob and below AC vent lining. Fun segment is packed in audio, USB jack, iPod connection and SD card through which you can keep yourself engaged on long drives and play your favorite tunes. Besides this, to stow your luggage, boot space of 200-litres is offered by the hatchback which can be further expanded to 605-litres due to its rear seat folding capacity. Other mini storage cabins includes light up front floor console cup holder, glove box which can house belongings upto 9.6-litres, door map pocket, centre console, rotating dual cup holder, seat back pocket, under seat storage and more.
Safety, Braking and Miscellaneous
Overall body of the Kia Picanto is designed in such a layout that it absorbs shock waves and transfers it to releasing pillars, reducing the fatal effect in case of accidents and collisions. Six airbag system offers passive safety feature to its occupants, employed for driver and front seat passenger, two side airbags and two curtain running airbags. For firm braking, it comes outfitted with all-wheel disc brakes, McPherson strut with stabilizer front suspension in the front axle and rear axle coupled with torsion beam. Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) keeps check on your driving style, immediately applies emergency brakes when needed, without any delay to all the wheels. Other safety features packed in this car includes Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Hill Assist Control (HAC), Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and much more.
Kia Picanto is a promising hatchback that is packed with features that are absent in many of its competitors. The power and fuel economy are also decent.
