Isuzu Panther is manufactured by the Isuzu Motors and launched it in the year 1991. This Multi-purpose vehicle got a facelift and some other essential features during its second generation for the comfort of the buyers. Panther is a good vehicle for people who want a 7-seater ride with decent features for weekend trips with family and friends. This Isuzu product is competitively priced so that the buyers may not have to think twice while buying this MPV. In Indonesia, this MPV is made available in 4 trims, offering some differences in the interior features for the comfort of the occupants.
Engine, mileage & variants
Isuzu Panther is available in 4 variants, namely, Smart, LS, LV and Grand Touring. All of these variants have a 2.5-litre turbocharged powerhouse under their hoods. Talking about the power, this diesel engine can generate a maximum power of 80 PS at 3500 rpm alongside a maximum torque measuring at 192 Nm at 1800 rpm. Coming on to the acceleration and pick up of these variants, the LS, LV and Smart accelerate from a halt position and reach to the 100 kmph mark in 17 seconds with a peak speed of 134 kmph and the Grand Touring variants takes 18 seconds with a top speed of 133 kmph to start from a standstill position and touch 0-100 kmph on speedometer. The LS, LV and Smart trims delivers a mileage of 12 kmpl and the GT trim runs 12.5 kmpl on an average on combined driveways. A total of 55 litres of diesel can be carried in this Isuzu vehicle at a time.
A contemporary design, bold fenders and crisp bodylines, this is what you would find at the exterior of the Isuzu Panther. The front grille carries black vertical along with chrome vertical and horizontal slats and Isuzu emblem. The big and bold headlights are attached with the front grille and give it an extended profile. Rear combination lamps and a towing hook is provided at the rear of this MPV. Talking about the dimensions this Isuzu vehicle carries, it comes with 4475 mm x 1680 mm x 1790 mm (L x W X H) in LS, LV and Smart variants. 15-inch alloy wheels along with tires measuring 205/65 R15 are employed in these variants. The GT variant has measurements worth 4535 mm x 1770 mm x 1920 mm (L x W x H) along with 15-inch alloy wheels and 235/70 R15 tires. All the 4 variants have same wheelbase standing at 2685 mm ensuring decent legroom and headroom for all the 7 occupants.
Peep inside the Isuzu panther and you will find seats wrapped with sober looking upholstery. The driver's seat can be height adjusted for the comfort of the driver. The dashboard carries a contemporary look and employs the instrument panel and leather covered steering wheel. The odometer and tachometer are embedded right behind the steering wheel so that the driver may have convenience in tracking the readings. There is single DIN radio, MP3 and CD player available in this MPV for the entertainment of occupants. Along with all this comes a roof mounted LCD which is for the use of both the rear row passengers' entertainment. Speakers and tweeters are employed to complete this audio system. A decent trunk space is given in this MPV for the occupants' luggage which can be enhanced after folding the second and third row seats. Some surplus storage on form of glove box and cup holders is also provided in the cabin area.
Safety, Braking and Miscellaneous
Isuzu Panther is a MPV which can be used for family outings or long drives with family and friends. The safety features employed in this vehicle are very basic and does not ensure the best safety in an event of collision or hit. Panther comes packed with 2 airbags and 2 seat belts for the fronts seat occupants. This vehicle does not carry any other feature for the protection of its passengers. Disc brakes are embedded in the front set of wheels and drum brakes are provided for the rear pair of wheels in this MPV.
Isuzu Panther is a decent looking SUV with a big engine but still lacks the power it could have produced. It is an average SUV for everyday use.
