Viar Cross X 250 Review
The Cross X-250 is a pure off-road bike among the adventure series of bikes from Viar Indonesia, unlike other variants Cross X 150 and Cross X 200 which can be used for both dirt track racing and commuting. In this bike, Viar has used stronger body frame, tough and adjustable suspensions and higher ground clearance for better handling on dirt tracks.
The bike design features include the front spoke wheel connected to handlebar through strong fork with telescopic suspension and broad profile rear tyre connected to the frame through linkages. The absence of headlights is an indication of usage of it as a pure off –road racing bike suited for daylight conditions. The sleek design of single rider seat with height 920mm and the wide handlebar give good posture for the rider in negotiating with varying track conditions. The other dimensions include 2120mm X 810mm X 1250mm (Length X Width X Height) and wheelbase 1440mm. The long wheelbase and excellent ground clearance of 320mm and kerb weight of 126kg make it easier for the rider to take on any track conditions.
Engine, Economy and performance
The marvellous performance of the bikes achieved with single cylinder four stroke liquid cooled 250cc engine delivering the power of 25hp at 9000rpm and torque of 23Nm at 7000rpm. The superb power of the engine is connected to the rear wheel through the 6-speed gearbox and multi-plate clutch. Easy to operate gear lever enables for quick variation of gear ratio according to track conditions. The quick responding engine provides excellent rise in power and torque and hence gain brisk development of speed as desired during racing. The fuel economy varies depending upon conditions of the track and engine running time to overcome obstacles, in general around 30kmpl can be expected in standard road conditions.
The bike is designed to perform in extreme conditions needing excellent power and torques. The seat, handlebar, footrest are well designed to make the rider get comfortable and balanced posture while negotiating with tough conditions of the dirt track. The easy to steer handlebar and the tyres with rating 80/100 R21 for front and 100/100 R18 for rear provide excellent road grip and comparatively lower size of rear tyre enable for balancing on track conditions which require jumping over a short distance.
